Dr. Gabriella Rodriguez shares coping strategies and tips to use with children and teens who are experiencing stress and anxiety at this unprecedented time.

Healthy Coping Strategies for Children and Teens:

  • Encourage them to identify and name their feelings.
  • Let them know whatever they are feeling is normal.
  • Discuss how you cope when you feel similar emotions.

Encourage your child to try a few strategies and figure out what works best:

  • Deep breathing
  • Going for a walk
  • Drawing or coloring
  • Connecting with friends and family over video chat or the phone
  • Listening to music
  • Practicing a hobby
  • Learning a new skill
  • Exercising
